We use active listening to show attention, understand clearly, and make conversations more effective.

Example: I understand what you mean.

For German speakers:
In English-speaking business communication, active listening is very important. Good listeners often use short phrases to show interest, understanding, and attention during a conversation.

show attention = demonstrate that you are listening carefully
[Aufmerksamkeit zeigen = zeigen, dass man aufmerksam zuhört]
I see.
[Ich verstehe.]
That makes sense.
[Das ergibt Sinn.]

understand clearly = check and confirm information
[klar verstehen = Informationen prüfen und bestätigen]

Could you explain that again?
[Könnten Sie das noch einmal erklären?]

encourage the speaker = help the other person continue speaking
[den Sprecher ermutigen = der anderen Person helfen weiterzusprechen]
